Banned and Noxious Weeds

Did you know there are weeds that are banned in Douglas County?  The Douglas County Weed Management website details the various noxious weeds and gives mitigation strategies for them.  Many of these weeds not only spread rapidly but will harm indigenous plant life.  The COOA covenants state owners shall “weed, water, trim, and otherwise maintain landscaping…”.  Please do your neighbors a favor and review this website.

COHA and a number of the residents use Weed Wranglers, a local weed management company, to help control weeds on their property.

Wildfires

READY, SET, GO a wildfire preparedness pamphlet from the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority’s wildfire mitigation resources.

Animal Pests

A number of residents have used Critter Control for the control of unwanted vermin, such as voles, pocket gophers, rats and mice.

In general, the coyotes in our area have not been a threat to people. Please do not feed or otherwise encourage coyotes – if you see one nearby you should make loud noises and otherwise discourage it from habitating with people.

There have been occasional sightings of black bears, mountain lions, bobcat and lynx in our area.  All of these animals should be considered dangerous and should be avoided.

Encounters with coyotes or other dangerous wildlife can be reported to the DCSO.
